Early Birth of Postmodern
In the 1960's the turning point of the fall of Modern Architecture. In the modern era of protest arises from the architects of the patterns that monotis because basically monotone impressive modern architecture (buildings mostly in the form of city-box).
Therefore, it gives birth to a new stream that flows postmodern.

Postmodern
Before understanding what a postmodern architecture we should first understand the meaning of postmoderen itself.

Postmodern is:

- Paradox, after now.

- The desire to live outside.
- Binding the past, present, future.
- Continued modern and derivatives.

Postmodern architecture are:
- Penetrating the limit, past the species.
- "Reviewing the past".
- Reviewing the future with irony
- Architecture that brings together art and science.
- Correction of errors of modern architecture.
- Architecture that detach themselves from the rules moderenisme.
- Son of modern architecture.
- Regionalism that replace internationalism.
- Replace the fictional representation of geometric shapes.
- A fictional representation to show the building in terms of exclusivity and function working in the art building.
- Not a symbol of the machinery and construction as part of the architecture, but consists of all the signs closest sequential design.
- The beauty and aesthetics replacing technology, describes the world of imagination more to bring to the world a new and more daring.
- Trying to restore the memories of the past, exploiting history to lead effects are more interesting.
- Can see more buildings relative to historical aspects, regional, and reward are more on the environment.
- Denying yourself can find references of modern style.
- Building a new taste of beauty that are far from the reality of life, fiction is better than functionality.

Broadly speaking postmoderen era architecture is divided into two main parts:

- Full of modern architecture.
- Post-modern architecture is divided into:

o Late modern.
o Neomoderen.
o Deconstruction.

 Postmoderen architectural traits are:

- Based on the art and science.
- Has the meaning (symbolic).
- Eklektikisme (mixed).
- Plural.
- The process of communication / language.
- Me-local.
- Room and architectural form shape.

School / Teaching in Postmodern Architecture
According to Charles A. Jencks there are 6 schools of architectural development that deviates from functionalism, namely:

1. Historiscism
Is to keep the flow of building components bring classic components.

2. Straight Revivalism
This stream is difficult to eliminate the existing styles in the community for a long time like a renaissance, gothic, islamic.

 3. Neo vernacular
Building products does not apply to the pure principles of vernacular buildings, but showing new work (prioritize visual appearance).

4. Urbanist
Having two special features are:
o Ad-hoc
The addition of new components in the development process of designing without thinking of the exact position and location.
o Contextual
Trying to serve the ideal aspirations of the people, the designs around the neighborhood.

5. Metaphor
The design takes the form of a functional nature. Disguised form of reference.

 6. Postmoderen Space
Focused on the design of spatial interpenetration, in which two or more spaces can be merged overlap and converge. This stream is trying to define the space is more than just an abstract space and produce a double meaning, diversity and surprises.

According to Robert A.M. Stern meaning contained in postmoderen architecture are:

- Kontekstualism
Building design building designs created with the surrounding environment, eg in the form of colors and sizes.

- Allusionism
Architectural design incorporates elements of the history of architecture. For example the history of the old building were included in the design of new buildings.
