Wow! So Cow Manure Building Materials, Green It!

It's one of the nation's innovation kids. Bricks building materials are usually made of clay, by those made of other materials that are not imagined before. A group of students from Prasetiya Mulya Business School in Indonesia has made "EcoFaeBrick", ie brick with the basic ingredients of cow dung!. Amazingly this brick won the 2009 Global Social Venture Competition an international competition.
Although made from cow manure, but this much building material superiority. The advantages of this brick addition to quality, easy to make and low cost because it is made from cow dung. These bricks are not only 20% lighter, but also has a compressive strength 20% stronger than clay bricks. And of course the production of bricks does not lead to destructive nature of mining techniques. So definitely environmentally friendly!

EcoFaeBrick mission is to provide a very economical solution to the waste problem while helping to curb the destruction of the local environment caused by mining clay (picture below). The bricks are made using 75% cow manure and enhanced the biogas heating process that reduces CO2 emissions are significantly above the burning wood in a traditional brick-making. Heating by means of biogas is claimed to reduce 1692 tons of CO2 per year. This is equivalent to changing 269 cars into hybrid cars!.
EcoFaeBrick also claims that this process will participate cattle farmers increase revenue by 53%, which will help to improve their quality of life (and hopefully they will recruit and teach a few ex-clay miners how to raise cattle). All this looks like a win-win and nice to see how GSVC recognize the benefits of this brick and help spread the technology. Congratulations on this innovation!
